Connection, the vital archè of the universe. For the first time, the postmodern man finds himself faced with the great paradox of choice. At first glance, having more possibilities than we really need might seem an advantage, but it is precisely in this mechanism that we develop an aseptic immobility towards life, letting ourselves be carried away not so much by our real needs, but by the continuous invention of heterodetermined desires that inevitably create a closure and a wrapping of the human soul, making life flow into confused moments of grey. Thus, following the penetrating concepts exposed impeccably by Zygmunt Bauman, from the Cartesian "I think therefore I am" to the "I consume therefore I am" the step seems really short: in the digital age everything and everyone seem perpetually interconnected, but is this really true? Looking away from these digital extensions of our body for a moment, we realize that reality is very different from how a superficial look can tell us about it. Empty connections that last a few "clicks", subject to the duration of a battery or the amount of phone credit, time-limited connections that have nothing to do with the human soul, disposable connections that can be interrupted at any moment; their intensity seems inversely proportional to the very ease of destroying the connections themselves. Gradually, thanks to these ephemeral links, the human soul seems to have lost its capacity to choose, now it is guided by very precise tracks established by an algorithm, which has already taken those choices on our behalf. Looking at the works that comprise the CONNECTION collection, you immediately have the feeling of a point of view diametrically opposed to the empty concept of connection that permeates current society: a radical and disarming message aimed at bringing out the human and spiritual meaning of connection. CONNECTION immediately imposes on us a conceptual effort aimed at physically connecting its parts, letting the viewer enter - in an immediate and visceral way - the intrinsic message and the most romantic dimension of his soul, almost unconsciously. Only apparently, the stem nearly swallowed by the darkness, shines as if it wanted to escape from the shadow, almost desperately seeking a connection to emerge from its solitary condition. CONNECTION cannot be explained; CONNECTION is felt by letting our emotions flow and feeling as a part of the work as if we were tied to it. Each tree in the forest is never alone, is instead connected with all the others. The mighty branches, although offering us opportunities for contact, are never stable nor reliable, they can break because of external agents, leaving evident signs of change; drops that might seem useless at an inattentive glance, but that connect every single element of the forest to a common path sometimes made up of traumatic events. And precisely through these signs it seems that each element communicates to another one, which suggests that despite the tiring flux not always self-determined there are deeper connections, even if apparently hidden. CONNECTION pushes us to go beyond the most superficial bonds and to turn our attention to more intimate connections, such as the roots hidden in the ground that secretly hug and touch each other; intertwining together they merge, holding tightly the ground and creating a network of bonds that ensures mutual stability to each element thanks to the help of each element. CONNECTION silently screams to our soul that the way out from the condition of monads that has been covertly but persistently imposed on us by contemporary society is the connection, a profound and powerful instrument that associates every being into a "One", mutually linked entities in space and time, one realizing through the connection with the other. It is precisely in this sense that CONNECTION manifests through the notion of relationship the concept of "archè", the first foundation of things, the driving force of the world. CONNECTION is emerging from the black without compromise, there are no grey areas, but pure white light. CONNECTION is getting out of difficulties, shining on one's own through the connection with others. CONNECTION is all that's missing and the only thing we need.
